Delicious food!!! We ate Cuban sandwich and tre leche cake-it was outstanding!!! Tomorrow we are coming again, I fell in love😍

Tell them that you are vegan and they'll make a great salad for you. Very delicious and filling. Also have plantains.

Wonderful Cuban restaurant in the Mountains of NC. Just off Main Street in West Jefferson NC. Staff were friendly and knowledge about the menu. The food was fantastic. The dining room is small probably only able to accommodate appx. 20 guests. But that added to the "home like" feel of the restaurant. Prices are very reasonable too!

Most amazing Cuban sandwiches and my pop grew up in South Fl way back in the day. He always spoke of Cuban sandwiches and these are the legit the best ever with real Cuban bread. Everything is amazing and the flan is the best I’ve ever had. Plus the owners are super nice. Lived out towards Todd for two years now is this is by far my favorite place to eat.

Very nice back street cafe, literally on Backstreet. Food was hot and fresh, served quickly, nice, attentive staff. I had the tilapia and it was delicious. My wife had stuffed poblano pepper and it was even better. Small place, only saw about 7-8 tables. I recommend this place for a wick meal or a leisurely repast.

The food tasted great. I ordered the papa rellena de vieja with black bean and plantains. My family ordered a pork dish, fish dish, and fajitas. All of them said the food was good. My sister actually thought this place had the best fajitas she has ever had. The food was clean, simple and inexpensive with good portion sizes. Although this was a diner style restaurant, the service was terrific. My party included a difficult group of 7 adults and 3 infants. They accommodated us in every way possible. By the end of the meal I felt like I had known the waiter and chef for years. If I ever stop by anywhere near West Jefferson, I will undoubtedly stop by here again.

As far as my wife and I are concerned, Havana Cafe is one of the best restaurants in West Jefferson. Excellent, flavorful, authentic Cuban cuisine. The pulled pork and Cuban sandwiches are especially delicious, and be sure to try them with the homemade hot sauces. And stop by for their new weekend breakfast menu -- the pastries and a Cubano make for a perfect morning!

I love this place. Terrific food, friendly service, fabulous coffee.

I have eaten here twice now. Breakfast was wonderful, coffee and pastries. When back for lunch a few weeks later and wasn't disappointed. Owner is super friendly.

The rice and beans were perfect. Picadillo was very flavorful. I want to go back and try the other dishes..

Love this little restaurant! The food is fresh and oh, soooooo good! Selma and her staff are attentive and make you feel like you're part of their family. Havana is my favorite restaurant in the High Country!

The food was authentic and very tasty... The cuban coffee was like rockstar!! The staff was so friendly and entertaining. We ate there during the annual antique festival but we will be back, just to eat there!

I've had very little Cuban food in my life. We have eaten here twice in the last week and we live over an hour away. Sure we had to make a trip to West Jefferson but we could not refuse visiting this establishment again. The food is fresh and delicious. Service great. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Great Cuban food in West Jefferson NC

I'm always on the lookout for a good Cuban sandwich and Cubano coffee since my trips to Miami. Many restaurants try to put a spin on the traditional Cuban with various results, but this one is exactly what it should be! The bread is made fresh and is perfectly soft and crispy at the same time, gooey melted cheese, crispy pickles, with tender pork and ham that just melts in your mouth.The coffee is deliciously strong and rich and the tres leches cake (coconut or chocolate) were both fantastic. (I have a preference for the coconut and my GF likes the chocolate)Definitely make sure to take a look at the specials menu, I overlooked it and possibly missed out on the chile rellenas (stuffed pablano pepper) and/or the papas rellenas (stuffed potato ball). Which if they are as good as their Cuban sandwich then you should definitely try it while here! Both are another of the food items I miss getting from Miami. Wish this was closer to my home 😊

We visit NC (my home state) every year for vacation from Miami - the place with Cuban restaurants on every corner (much like Starbucks). We were hesitant to go, thinking what do local hometown people know about great Cuban food? Well, we were FLOORED. It was one of the best dinners we had in the three weeks we were in NC, from Boone to Asheville to Winston. The owner was super nice and came by to check on us. My partner loves Tres Leche cake, and I have never been a fan, finding it to be too sweet and just blah. I gave in and tried the chocolate Tres Leche and loved it. I will never eat it unless I am at Havana Cafe. If you want authentic Cuban food like mom's house (if your mom was Cuban), then this is the place to go. Hands down, no question, from Cuban food "experts" from Miami. We loved it.

Everything I've tried on the menu is great. Only issue is how small the restaurant is, can be very cramped at times. Not open in the evenings during the week so dinner is out.

Best Cuban anything around. They do close for winter vacation 2nd week of December and reopens around April 1st I think. The best Cuban Coffee beans I can find. That includes the ones I used to have sent from Miami and well the same only cheaper and fresher than the ones I was ordering from Cuba when they lifted the embargo.

Really enjoyed my Cuban at this restaurant. The bread was kinda different but good. It was sort of crispy or flaky. Delicious. Had some "Cuban" sodas that were yummy too. Júpiña is a pineapple soda and Ironbeer is kinda like an orange cream soda. There were a couple more choices too. The restaurant is relatively small but has plenty of tables for four. We pulled a chair up for 5. Everyone was nice and I would go back.

This is one of those places that you don't really want to tell anyone about. It's perfect, it's cozy, the food is absolutely excellent...and you don't want a thing about it to change...you want to keep it to yourself...But in all fairness they deserve top marks, I just want it to stay one of Ashe county's best kept secrets...so by all means, give them all the love and support they deserve...just...shhhh...don't tell anyone...
